Outsourcing chores through DoMyStuff.com

My friend Jon turned me onto a new little start-up called DoMyStuff.com. This site is right up my alley as I am always looking for little gigs to earn spare cash in my free time.

The concept of the business is to allow everyone, not just high power executives, to reclaim valuable time by outsourcing tasks. All jobs can be posted for free, interested parties (assistants) can ask questions and bid and then a small service fee is taken from the assistant when payment is delivered. The bidding is not done on an auction basis, allowing the task-giver the option to chose whomever she please to fulfill the job.

The company is still getting traction and as if today only has 73 listings. The closest competitor that I know about is probably craigslist as people can post part time gigs or events, but even that isn’t exactly the same. Barriers to entry are definitely low and I’ll keep my eyes open to see if anyone else enters the space.

If you do know of any other competitors, please feel free to leave a comment.
