The need may arise to find certain research studies or publications. Sometimes a simple Google search can reveal a website in which you can find the study to download or view online. Yet, often these publications can not be uncovered by Google as they are hidden in analyst databases.
Databases and websites that are helpful include:
- First Search - An aggregate of publication databases that can be searched through the First Search portal. A log-in is necessary, but is usually available through an university.
- Reuters On Demand - If the publication being search for is from a business analyst or analyst group, the best database is by far Multex, which was bought by Reuters and is often listed now as Reuters On Demand. This database is utterly fantastic, but of course requires some sort of log-in. Certain universities will have access.
- Company websites - many times companies will give the public free access to analyst white papers because the paper mentions the company name in a positive light.
